MY TEST PURCHASE OF THE MONTH – The Birkin from Bag Inc
Just as some people collect autographs (I’ve never ever understood that ) and others collect books, stamps or money , I collect bags. I can’t help it, I have far too many (according to my husband) and they take up to much room (according to my husband) but that’s what I love and I’m also a bit of a designer handbag geek….ask me anything and I’ll probably know the answer!
Now if I’m truthful only a few of my vast collection are actually authentic designer bags. I simply don’t earn the kind of money that would allow me to purchase a real designer bag, pre loved or new, every month. And I honestly do add to my collection at least once a month! Some people have a walk in wardrobe, I have a walk in room lined with shelves dedicated for my bags….a tad indulgent perhaps and my partner could be right, I may have too many, but whatever!
Just the other day I decided it was time to update my collection with a Hermes Kelly bag.
I’ve several Birkin bags but only one replica Hermes Kelly and this time while browsing across my favorite sites I stumbled across a website http://www.baginc.com that caught my eye straight away….read on to find out why
As I stumbled across this site that I didn’t ever remember seeing before I was surprised by how professionally the site was laid out, but on closer inspection the Hermes bags I was looking at on the home page didn’t say anything about Hermes. Surprising as usually replica sites are clamoring to have something like “authentic replica Hermes” plastered all over the page. However this was refreshingly different because it simply didn’t do that. Instead, that page was clear, professional and didn’t mention the word “replica” once. Finally it dawned on me that this wasn’t a website selling replica bags, nor was it a website selling authentic designer bags. It was simply a website selling bags that although looked like a designer bag were in fact a “Jane” bag. A play on words as the Birkin bags were named after “Jane Birkin” and the Grace bags being sold were obviously a nod to “Grace Kelly”. Clever sales tactic I thought to myself and refreshingly different and honest. This company wasn’t trying to fool me into buying a bag that I though was real, they were simply showing me bags I could buy that looked almost identical to an authentic designer bag, but at a fraction of the price.
I ended up settling on a “Grace” bag, which looked like the Hermes Kelly bag, in a pale blue leather with gold hardware. The price was listed in USD and was only $109. The bag wasn’t huge, just a relatively small bag of 25cm x 18 cm with a depth of 11cm, but I’d seen similar replica Kelly bags on other websites retailing at closer to $200, so with a saving of nearly $100 I thought I’d forgo my usual replica site and put in an order. Payment was nice and easy , simply hit the “add to cart” button and then checkout. I qualified for free shipping as my purchase was over $99USD but try as I might searching the web (and it’s always worth a google) I couldn’t find any promotion codes so did end up paying the full asking price. Again rather surprisingly there was the option to pay via Paypal, something I don’t recall ever seeing on other replica websites. There was also the option to pay by various credit cards too.
Technically speaking my Grace bag isn’t a replica! But yet we all know it is. Fortunately the Hermes Kelly bag is very minimalistic and subtle with any logos and branding, which meant that my Grace bag really did look the part. The leather felt sturdy yet nice to touch, Togo, leather I believe is the name for this grainy leather used in this type of bag. The bag is only a small bag yet it felt heavier than expected, not in a bad way, simply unexpected. The hardware was all perfect and uniformly placed. On closer inspection the stitching on the lower left corner of the bag had frayed slightly but it really hasn’t been anything to worry about and is barely noticeable.
Would I buy again from http://www.baginc.com again?
Yes I would, but I’d choose my bag carefully, opting for one with less obvious branding (such as the Grace or Jane bags) as I believe these would look more authentic than some of the others such as “The quilted bag” which are obviously a form of Chanel bag, but lack some of the iconic features. All in all a good website that I’d definitely purchase from again.
